Not every Ferrari is built for the stopwatch: the Roma is built for the journey. Its clean lines, inspired by the grand tourers of the 1960s, find their natural setting in the south of Sardinia — the coast road between Chia and Teulada rolling above deserted coves, Cagliari's Poetto seafront, the arrival in Villasimius with the Capo Carbonara lighthouse on the horizon. It is the "Nuova Dolce Vita" transplanted to an island that has embodied it all along.

Compared with an out-and-out supercar, the Roma adds what a multi-day itinerary demands: seats that never wear you down, a genuine boot, two extra places in the back. The Roma has two faces, and the first is deceptive: in traffic it is docile, hushed, almost discreet, the twin-turbo V8 murmuring in the background and the eight-speed gearbox — the same architecture as the SF90's — slipping between ratios unnoticed. Then you turn the manettino to Race, bury the throttle, and 620 hp rewrites the scene: 0–100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and a surge that, on the open roads of the Sulcis, seems to have no end.

The steering is light yet precise, the suspension filters out imperfections without isolating you, and the driving position embraces without constraining: you step out after three hundred kilometres wanting another hundred. On request, the Roma is also available as a Spider, with a fabric soft top that folds away in seconds and nods to Maranello's classic open cars: a romantic choice, perfect for summer evenings on Cagliari's harbour front.
